The national strategy to improve the identification, education and support of gifted and talented children was introduced in September 1999. The Hull EiC Partnership’s co-ordinator for the Gifted and Talented (G and T) strand of EiC was appointed in January 2001. The G and T strand currently operates in all 15 secondary schools. The main elements of the gifted and talented strand are:
Each school has their own co-ordinator for Gifted and Talented pupils. The schools within the Hull Partnership are grouped together into 'clusters' of 5 schools with a Lead Co-ordinator who is responsible for gifted and talented provision within each cluster. Each cluster of schools has formed a network with a range of external partners such as higher education institutions, libraries, museums and businesses to support the provision of out of school hours activities. The Hull G and T clusters have been particularly effective and details of some of their activities can be found on their linked pages. |
