The Specialist Schools Programme is about provision of opportunity, challenge, raising standards for all pupils, and the celebration by schools of their own distinctive character and ethos. Any maintained secondary school in England may apply to be designated as a specialist school in one of eight specialist areas. These are as follows: technology, languages, sports, arts (visual, performing or media), business & enterprise, engineering, science, and mathematics & computing. We currently have four Specialist Schools in Hull: Winifred Holtby School Technology College Pickering High School Sports College Malet Lambert School Language College St Mary’s College Sports College
Proposals are currently in the process of being submitted from Kingswood High School for Performing Arts College status and Endeavour High School for Technology College status. |
