Gifted and Talented Summer Schools 2001/2002

The Main objectives of Gifted and Talented Summer Schools are to: -

Enrich and extend educational provision of G&T students completing years 6 to 9 inclusive, with particular focus on transition from primary to secondary school;

Develop approaches that help to:

Identify and motivate such children, including those who are underachieving;

Stretch those children and enhance their educational development;

Enrich their educational experience and/or enable them to engage early with material they would not normally encounter until later;

Improve educational continuity and progression between primary and secondary schools and developing the knowledge and understanding of school staff;

Promote access to higher education for able children from disadvantaged backgrounds;

Promote effective partnership between schools/other education institutions;

Improve capacity of the schools to cater for G&T students.

 

Recent summer schools include: -

St Mary’s Science Summer School

Kelvin Hall Modern Foreign Language Summer School and

Creative Summer Schools held at David Lister and Isaac Newton focusing on dance and art including Glass Magic, Fossilised Sculpture and Percussion, Make a Musical and Save the World.
